PPA MEMBERSHIP RENEWAL REMINDER
All PPA memberships were due on the 1st July 2011. Thank you to our members who have already renewed. The first seeding run will take place towards the end of this week or over the weekend, after which the new season’s road and new MTB funride numbers will be posted.Only paid-up members are included in seeding runs, so if you have not yet renewed, please do so now via our secure online site.

PPA ONE TONNER ENTRIES OPENING SOON
Keep an eye out on the PPA website as Early Bird entries for the PPA One Tonner on 16 October 2011 will be opening soon. Click here for more information on this flagship event. PS We are also finalizing the details for a women’s-only funride on 19 November… watch the website!

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
A great new route, with a good mixture of riding conditions set in the foot hills of the Langeberg mountains overlooking the ruens fields. The 55 km route has been laid out for the fit and experienced rider to keep you challenged on the climbs and great descents. The downhills are a mix of fast rolling hills with a few technical descents that are clearly marked and well worth the effort of the climb, all in all a route with variation and flow to remind you why we love mountain biking so much. Ride amongst deep-set pine forests and beautiful fynbos with 60% jeep track, 20% gravel and 20% single track and 1800 meters of vertical climbing.

The 35 km is designed for the not-so-fit or not-so-keen for a hard ride. The route is easy going with only a few climbs, with a total 600 meters of climbing. You’ll pedal through farm lands and into the beautiful Bontebok National Park where a variety of game can be seen while riding through fynbos on good gravel roads, looping back to the finish in time to watch the longer route riders come in.

The organisers recommended the scenic 10 km route for beginners and the not-so-fit riders. The 10 km route will not be timed. No sections of any of the routes are repeated.

DIRECTIONS TO VENUE
From Cape Town, take the N2 towards Caledon. At Swellendam, turn left at the second turn-off and follow the signboards to Swellendam Primary School. Start point is opposite Oppi Stoep Coffee Shop, corner Berg and Voortrek streets. G PS Coordinates: 34° 1’5.03″S; 20°27’6.97″E. Click here for interactive route directions.

Children u/10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times. Your 2010-2011 PPA funride number will still be accepted for this event, please remember to bring it along.
