PPA “HEELS ON WHEELS” PRESENTED BY SHAPE
A big thank you to all the participants who took part in Sunday’s PPA “Heels on Wheels” presented by SHAPE. Some 530 women had entered the event and, despite the rain early in the morning, the feedback we are receiving so far has been overwhelmingly positive. We’ll definitely organise another all-female event or two next year! We are busy uploading pics to the Road cycling/gallery section, so do visit it soon and check out some of our lovely ladies at the event.
PPA OFFICE CLOSURE
Please note the PPA office will be close at 12h00 on Thursday 22 December and will reopen on 3 January 2012. The office will also be closed for a function on Tuesday 13 December from 14h00-17h00.
The PPA team would like to wish you all the best over the festive season. Remember to…
ALWAYS STOP AT RED TRAFFIC LIGHTS AND ALL STOP STREETS. And even if the light is green for you to cross an intersection, look out for motorists jumping the lights.
Indicate your intentions, and check if the driver has seen you. Preferably get the driver to acknowledge you before turning in front of a vehicle.
– Use lights (a steady white light in front and a flashing red light at the back) if you ride in the dark, dawn or dusk. In fact, consider having a flashing red rear light at all times, even in the middle of the day.
– Read more safe cycling tips on our website, in the Commuting section
