09 Feb 2016 Join us for an Awareness Ride on 27 Feb
Show your support for safer roads and join the PPA ‘Stay Wider of the Rider’ Awareness Ride on Saturday 27 February 2016. Please meet at Maiden’s Cove (Camps Bay) at 06h30 so that we can start pedalling at no later than 07h00.
The route will be from Maiden’s Cove (Camp’s Bay) to Chapman’s Peak and back.
We urge all cyclists wanting a safer cycling environment to join us for this ride. For catering purposes, please enter online. There is no entry fee, but it will be appreciated if you could complete the online entry to let us know how many riders to expect.
Please wear your ‘Stay Wider of the Rider’ cycling jersey.
The PPA launched the very successful ‘Cyclists Stay Alive at 1.5’ campaign back in 2011 which resulted in a 1 metre passing law which was promulgated in 2013 in the Western Cape. The STAY WIDER OF THE RIDER campaign which launched in 2014, urges motorists as well as cyclists to obey the rules of the road as it is a two-way street. Let’s all practice tolerance and respect on our roads.
Again, we thank you for the support for this important campaign.
Please note this is not a timed event.
(PS: You are most welcome to join us for the Awareness Ride even if you do not have a Safe Cycling jersey. If possible, please wear a bright, visible jersey though.)
Jersey collection: You can use the ‘event entry link’ to also order a new safe cycling jersey. Jerseys can be collected from the PPA Office in Kenilworth during office hours (08h30-16h30). You can also collect/buy your jersey from the admin staff between 06h00 and 06h45 prior to the start of the Awareness Ride on 27 February at Maiden’s Cove, but we recommend that you rather collect yours from the Office so as to save time and standing in queues on the morning of the ride.
