PPA Social Rides (BEGINNER & EXPERIENCED GROUPS)

BEGINNER GROUP:

Rides are ideal for novices who would like to build confidence on the road and hone in on bike skills, all under the mentorship and guidance of fellow riders, and within the safety of a group. The pace of the ride is dictated by the slowest rider. The group stays together and no one is left behind. There is a ride captain and a backup vehicle. Rides are approximately 1,75 – 2 hours. The routes vary from week to week. Join us every Saturday, it’s free.

TIME: Meet at 07h00 for a 07h15 start
WHEN: Every Saturday
WHERE: 9 Hill Park Lane, Mowbray or at Scalzini’s Pizza, Monte Vista (the start venue will be confirmed weekly via a post on social media)
DISTANCE: 30km to 40km. The ride is approximately 2 hours.
RIDE CAPTAIN: Nick

EXPERIENCED GROUP:

The route is decided on the day depending on the number and strengths of the riders and on the weather. There are catch-up points along the route for slower riders.  No one is left behind. The rides are 3 to 4 hours long as they depend on the route which will include some climbs and will be 50 km or more. You are free to shorten your ride but you will be on your own unless fellow cyclists return with you. Join us every Saturday, it’s free.

DISTANCE: 50km plus, 3 – 4 hours.

Notes on the rides:

  • Please adhere to all Government regulations at all times.
  • Ensure you wear a mask / buff on arrival at the office.
  • Ensure you maintain a 2 meter distance from your fellow riders at all times.
  • The ride is free of charge and open to everyone including non-members.
  • The route is decided on the day depending on the number and strengths of the riders and on the weather.
  • There are catch-up points along the route for slower riders.  No one is left behind.
  • You are free to shorten your ride but you will be on your own unless fellow cyclists return with you.
