STAY WIDER OF THE RIDER AWARENESS RIDE – CITY OF JOBURG

The PPA Stay Wider of the Rider campaign aims to create awareness of how vulnerable cyclists are on the road but also to reinforce cyclist good behaviour in our adherence to the law. We advocate mutual respect on our roads. This will be an awareness ride not a race and we will obey by the rules of the road.

Join our Stay Wider of the Rider team on Sunday, 6 October 2024 in the City of Joburg for an Awareness Ride. The ride is free and anyone is welcome to join. Meet us at Metro Park Braamfontein at 07h00, for 08h00 start. The route is 25km towards Zoo Lake and back, with a waterpoint every 10km. Unfortunately, no children U12 allowed as per CSA regulations. Free coffee to all afterwards.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE PPA FUNRIDE

Join us for the PPA Funride taking place on Sunday, 13 October 2024 at Perdeberg Cellar. There will be two distances to choose from; the short route will be 43 km and the long route will be 107 km. Tandems and E-Bikes are welcome to ride.

Finishers medal, a beautiful on route experience, fully stocked waterpoints and as usual Coca-Cola Peninsula Beverages will be waiting for you at the finish with an ice cold Coke. Perdeberg Cellar will be open for delicious food and something to drink, be sure to book a table while you wait for lucky draw to take place at 10h30.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE 6 & 12 HOURS OF KILLARNEY

The 12 Hours of Killarney is back again! Not only will we have the 12-hour challenge, but we have also added a 6-hour challenge for the less daring. Join us on Sunday, 20 October 2024, at the prestigious Killarney Motor Racing Track in Milnerton. This is your chance to test your endurance legs and showcase your biking prowess. You can participate as a solo rider, team up with a partner for a dynamic duo, or assemble a formidable team of four riders.

Get ready for an exhilarating challenge, the track is a 3.276 km loop that is fairly flat with long straights that will push your endurance to the limit. How many laps can you conquer in a mere 12 hours? Will you surpass the incredible 2018 record of 140 laps (men solo) or 112 laps (ladies solo)? If you do set a new record, you’ll win R 5 000 cash.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE OLD MUTUAL WEALTH DOUBLE CENTURY

Entries are open to South Africa’s premier endurance road cycling event. Old Mutual Wealth, the Pedal Power Association and the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust can’t wait to welcome all cyclists and support drivers to the 2024 edition of the Old Mutual Wealth Double Century taking place on 23 November 2024 in Swellendam.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE JAR FROM DIRT GRAVEL WEEKEND

Get ready to embrace the dirt and uncork the adventure at the second annual Jar from Dirt Gravel Weekend, the ultimate gravel event taking place on Saturday and Sunday, 30 November & 1 December 2024 at the beautiful Stettyn Family Vineyards between Worcester and Villiersdorp.

Experience the thrill of gravel cycling through open roads, scenic vineyards, and untamed landscapes. This year we have added 3 Trail Run routes, a weekend for the whole family.

The event will take place over two days with the option to take part in only one day or spend the weekend camping with the whole family and part take in both days.

ENTRIES OPEN FOR THE 2025 CANNONDALE MALUTI DOUBLE 90

Get ready to push your limits as teams come together for a thrilling time trial over a whopping 180 km stretch of picturesque terrain on Saturday, 5 April 2025 for the Cannondale Maluti Double 90. Rally your cycling buddies, fine-tune your bikes, and prepare for an adventure that will test your endurance and teamwork. There are only 120 team entries available.

Early Bird entries are open. No price increase till Monday, 2 September 2024.

THIRD PARTY EVENT: LIONS KAROO TO COAST

The Lions Karoo to Coast Mountain Bike Challenge is a 100km off road race from Uniondale to Knysna via the Prince Alfred’s Pass taking place 22 September 2024. The route is scenic, challenging and riders are encouraged to train sufficiently for this event in order to maximise the enjoyment of the experience.

Entry Cost is R780 including dinner in Uniondale. All proceeds go to the Lions of Knysna and Uniondale. Only 4500 entries will be available for the 2024 event. Entries will be accepted on a first come, first served basis.

THIRD PARTY EVENT: RIDE THE KAROO

Ride The Karoo stage race takes place in the heart of the Karoo at Dwarsvlei farm 27-29 September 2024. Each stage passes by historical 100-year-old stables and 200-year-old stone walls leading onto double lane “sheep tracks” while riding past familiar windpump scenes along the way. Experience authentic Karoo hospitality with braais, fresh farm bread, condensed milk coffee, koeksisters & craft beer amidst picturesque sunsets. Ride the Karoo is not about crossing the finish line as quickly as possible but rather about a riding experience like no other.
