Are you up for a Strava challenge, hill climb and more?

Are you up for a Strava challenge, hill climb and more?

DO YOU REMEMBER…
PPA was founded 40 years ago! In February 1988, the then-editor of the PPA newsletter, Enrico Uliana, wrote “…I believe cycling will be much safer if we all follow two simple rules: RIDE IN A STRAIGHT LINE and NEVER CROSS THE CENTRE OF THE ROAD.”

MEDIHELP STELLENBOSCH CYCLE TOUR ENTRIES ARE OPEN
Entries for the Medihelp Stellenbosch Cycle Tour on Sunday 4 December are now open. The 97 km event is a Premier Seeding event for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour, and the last road ride and seeding event of the year. PPA’S NOVEMBER STRAVA CHALLENGE
Are you up for the PPA November Strava Challenge? We’re looking for the cyclist who will log the most kms from 1-30 November 2016. Road, MTB, touring, commuting – it does not matter – just get out there and ride your bike, and you could win some stunning PPA cycling kit!
If you are up for the challenge, please join the PPA Strava club soonest and get ready to start pedalling!

TWILIGHT FAMILY MTB: SAVE THE DATE!
The date has been confirmed for PPA’s Twilight Family MTB, the social year-end event on the calendar! Bring your friends and family and join us on Friday 2 December for an early evening (18h30 – slightly later than in previous years) off-road ride at Backsberg Estate Cellars (Simondium, near Paarl).

We are excited to announce that we will have two new routes this year (15 km and 4 km), cutting out the worst hills of last year to make it a real family-friendly event.

We are even more excited that our famous “Bubbly point” will again be offered on the 15 km route…. Great lucky draw prizes; no seeding and no timing – just come and let your hair down and have fun with us. Backsberg restaurant will be selling yummy food at the finish, as well as wine. This year we’ll also have craft beer, music and more. Entries will open within a week.

INCIDENTS AT EVENTS
If you report a medical or mechanical incident to the PPA events coordinator on the PPA Emergency phone, please cancel the report if you later decide to continue. This past weekend medics again spent a fruitless 30 minutes searching for a rider who had left the scene of the incident.

KILLARNEY: WE ARE TRAINING ON TUESDAY EVENING
Do join us from 18h00-19h00 this Tuesday at the Killarney track in Milnerton for an hour’s training in a car-free environment. R20 for PPA members; R40 for non-members. The wind will be blowing, so we’ll definitely be practising some pace-line riding. Although the training takes place on the track, you are most welcome to participate with a mountain bike if you prefer. Please keep an eye on our Facebook page for the latest updates, as training sessions sometimes do get cancelled due to adverse weather conditions.

JOIN US FOR A HILL CLIMB THIS SUNDAY
Are you ready to test your climbing legs? Join us at Dido Valley on Sunday for a 2.4 km lung-bursting effort, starting at 07h00. See more below.
