Kick start the final phase of your preparation for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour by joining us on the start line of the first road event on our calendar, the Cyclosportif #1, on Sunday 28 January. The venue is the Windmeul Wine Cellar in the Paarl/Wellington area.
The Cyclosportif series for 2018 will consist of 6 events that will start at three different venues. Cyclosportif #1 and #4 will use the same venue/route; #2 and #5 will use the same venue/route, and #3 and #6 will use the same venue/route. Can you improve your time the second time you do a route? Come and find out… You are welcome to do only one, a few, or all of the events – but you’ll love the ‘coaster’ formed by the different medals when doing all the events in the series! This series will count towards your seeding for the Cape Town Cycle Tour.
For Cyclosportif #1, two routes will be on offer: 91 km and 38 km.The event will start with the long route at 06h30, with the short route to follow at 07h00 (as soon as all the long route participants have left).
From the venue, the long route will take you through Wellington and out towards Hermon, turning left towards Riebeeck Kasteel where the one big climb of the day awaits. You will return to the venue via the R45 and R44. There will be three water points along the route.
The short route will do the undulating Voorpaardeberg circuit in a clockwise direction, joining the long route after some 22 km.
The cut-off is at 11h30. Late entries (the late entry fee will apply) will be taken from 05h30 at the venue. Registration will take place on the day, at the venue.
