17 Jun 2015 PPA welcomes our new CEO
The Pedal Power Association is proud to announce the appointment of Robert Vogel as its first CEO. The PPA is a Public Benefit Organisation committed to promote cycling and the interests of cyclists. The PPA’s influence and interest spans across recreational road and off-road cycling events and initiatives; supporting cycling community projects; lobbying for the interests of cyclists’ safety and rights; assisting communities to develop through cycling; and encouraging our youth to cycle.
An independent recruitment agency was tasked in finding the most suitable candidates and applicants from as far afield as Johannesburg were interviewed for the position.
Robert comes with a sound cycling pedigree. He is probably best-known in mountain bike circles and is amongst others the founder of the successful Table Mountain Bikers club, but is equally passionate about commuting.
The PPA has exciting plans to grow and expand its membership base by promoting cycling to the youth; through community projects; and providing cycling-related benefits to its members.
“The PPA was looking for someone with the ability to demonstrate leadership and credibility in cycling circles; is passionate about cycling across all disciplines; and has a track record of growing cycling organisations. The successful candidate also needed to be a strong team player who can work effectively within teams,” says Stephen Hayward, the Chairman of the PPA. “Robert will also specifically focus his energies on lobbying and the rights of cyclists, including PPA’s safe cycling campaign. We have an experienced and well qualified PPA Executive Committee that will continue to provide strategic guidance for the PPA. We wish Robert the best of luck in his appointment”.
Robert will officially commence his duties in August 2015.
