29 Sep 2015 PPA Mangaung MTB and Cycle Tour: Join us for a great weekend of cycling!
If you are looking for a GREAT weekend of cycling in the Free State, come to Bloemfontein for the PPA Mangaung MTB on Saturday 31 October and the PPA Mangaung Cycle Tour on Sunday 1 November. Great new routes for both the road and off-road events.
The road event is part of the Official Premier Seeding Series for the 2016 Cape Town Cycle Tour. Gone with the old and in with the new! The 106 km seeding event will now take you through the Bloemfontein suburb instead of the boring N1. The shorter 30 km is also something to get excited about as you will encounter all the “hills” Bloemfontein has to offer.

New MTB Tour
The new MTB Tour offers a unique route taking you through all the best mountain biking trails in and around Bloemfontein. This is something you wouldn’t be doing on your own over a weekend!
Choose between three exciting and challenging distances: For fit cyclists ready to take up a challenge, there is a 75 km route. If you are looking for a slightly easier ride, enter the 55 km route, while the 30 km route is aimed at novices and beginners.
The 75 km offers 56% Single track, 26% Jeep track, 15% dirt road and 3% tar road. This route requires some technical skill on some of the tracks but an experienced rider should be able to negotiate this comfortably. There are some portages but these are few and short. There are a few technical climbs but the descents are not too technical.
The variety of paths participants will experience is unique to this event – add this to breath-taking views over Bloemfontein and some of its most popular landmarks and you have an event that should not be missed.
The MTB Tour takes place in a 14 km x 7 km area which means there are lots of twists and turns on the routes and no time to get bored!
Although the route has a lot of single track, there is enough places where riders can easily pass one another. The route can handle a large number of participants and no congestion is expected.
Participants in all three distances will have a MTB experience with an urban twist!
