05 Nov 2012 PPA keeps Camps Bay police on the move
The Pedal Power Association today donated four bicycles and helmets to the Camps Bay Police to assist the station to do mobile patrols in the area.
In the last year alone, the Pedal Power Association allocated some R1.8m to 39 cycling-related projects. This brings the funding that the Association has spent on cycling projects over the last four years to over R8 million.
The Pedal Power Association and the Rotary Club of Claremont are the beneficiaries of the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust, who organises, amongst others, the annual Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour – the Camps Bay police station being on the Cycle Tour route. The PPA uses any profits received in this way to run the Association and to support various cycling projects.
Projects supported by the PPA can broadly be grouped under the following: BMX, mountain bike trails, assisting cyclists with disabilities, commuting, cycling development, safe cycling initiatives, and cycle racing.
