08 Feb 2012 PPA and CSA
Cape Town, February 2012: Cycling SA has proposed a new constitution which will bring them in line with SASCOC ideals. This proposed new constitution will be discussed at a meeting with SASCOC later this month.
The proposed new CSA constitution makes provision for a new Western Cape Cycling Association consisting of WPCA, Boland and Southern Cape, to be the recognised provincial affiliate.
The Pedal Power Association (PPA), as a founder member of CSA, supports a new CSA constitution.
PPA also recognises that WPCA (/ the new Western Cape Cycling Association) looks after clubs and is the body cyclists should be channelled through to enable them to obtain provincial, and later national colours.
PPA is not a club, but a Public Benefit association which facilitates cycle tours, fun rides and outings for event organisers to raise funds for different charities; represents its members and cyclists in general; promotes cycling as a recreational activity, a sport and as a means of transportation; and strives to improve conditions for cyclists with particular regard to their safety
The Pedal Power Association will continue, as it has done in the past, to uphold the PPA Constitution.
