PPA PROJECT FUNDING APPLICATIONS
Applications for cycling project funding are closing on 22 February 2011. Please visit the Project Funding section of the PPA website (www.pedalpower.org.za) for more information.
PPA WOMEN’S CYCLING WORKSHOP THIS WEEK
Here’s one for the girls: Are you relatively new to cycling, and want to know more about cycle training, women-specific cycling equipment, nutrition, weight loss, or just have some general women’s cycling-related questions to ask? Then join us this Thursday 10 February for a free women’s cycling workshop at Cape Storm in Wynberg. Limited seating, please book. PS: The Cape Storm shop will be open before the workshop, with great discounts for PPA members. Read more in the news section on www.pedalpower.org.za
ONLINE PAYMENTS: DO WE KNOW WHO YOU ARE?
A name and surname or initials and surname does NOT suffice when making electronic payments into the PPA account – with some 19 000 members, you may be surprised as to how many members we have with the same name/initials and surname. Please include your ID as well if you want to do an EFT payment. The preferred way is to use the “JOIN PPA” button off the home page, as that automatically creates/updates your membership on the database; while EFT payments still have to be activated manually.
LINE-UP AND START GROUPS AT FUNRIDES
The timing mats are reset between seeded start groups,so if you arrive a little late and miss crossing the mats with your seeded group, you cannot cross with the next group and then move up to your seeded group, despite you holding the correct seeded number. You must start with the group with which you crossed the timing mats. Cyclists will be DQed for moving forward in this regard.
EVENT CUT-OFF TIMES
The cut-off times for PPA road funrides are generally calculated at 20km/h from the time of the last start group in the long distance. If you doubt being able to complete the long route before the advertised cut-off time, rather consider doing shorter routes until you have become fitter.
PPA CYCLING JERSEY
Have you ordered your PPA cycling top? Read more on the home page of our website.
