PPA WACKY WHEELS OVERNIGHT TOUR
We have had two cancellations for the PPA Wacky Wheels Overnight Tour from Pringle Bay to Onrust on 2 – 3 April 2011, so if you hurry, you could perhaps get that spot! This is a social, laid-back camping trip where the emphasis is on having fun and enjoying your bicycle as a means of transport, with coffee stops, a wine tasting, great food, a quiz and a wacky lucky draw thrown in for good measure. For more information or to get your name on the waiting list, email marketing@pedalpower.org.za .
NEW PPA WEBSITE COMING SOON
We are hard at work building a new website, which will be launched in the very near future. Keep an eye on www.pedalpower.org.za…

ROUTE DESCRIPTION
Road: The route takes cyclists out on the R311 towards Riebeeck Kasteel, turning right onto the R46 towards Malmesbury over the Botmaskloof Pass. Cyclists then turn left on the R45 before taking another left turn onto the R44 towards Wellington at the 4-way stop. The Lady Loch bridge is closed due to road works in the area, hence cyclists will continue straight to the Wellington 4-way stop. Then it is left onto Distillery Road and the R44 towards Hermon, returning on a circular route back to Pulpit Rock Winery (Riebeeck West). This is a very scenic route with the 3 km climb over Botmaskloof Pass (fortunately early in the ride) being the biggest challenge.
MTB: The 50 km and new 30 km routes comprise of moderate climbs, single tracks, jeep tracks and farm roads in the direction of Kasteelberg. Riders on the 50 km can expect a challenging route, which should only be attempted by fit riders. The routes offer scenic views of the Riebeeck Valley and the Swartland farmlands. Ensure that you have slime / tyre liners and enough spares with you.
The 21 km is an easy, scenic ride for the younger and less experienced riders and will be untimed. Come and ride it and simply have fun!
DIRECTIONS TO VENUE
From Malmesbury, follow the R45 towards Paarl and Wellington. Turn left 5 km from Malmesbury onto the R46 towards Ceres / Hermon / Riebeeck Kasteel. Turn left on the R311 (the first entrance to Riebeeck Kasteel) and continue straight past Riebeeck Kasteel until you reach Riebeeck West. The venue at Pulpit Rock Winery is a few km past Riebeeck West, on the R311 towards Moorreesburg.
