MALUTI DOUBLE90 EARLY BIRD ENTRIES NOW OPEN

MALUTI DOUBLE90 EARLY BIRD ENTRIES NOW OPEN

For a limited time – 12 July until sold out – the increasingly popular Cycle Lab Maluti Double90 powered by Biogen has opened up 10 early bird entries for the next event to be held on 18 April 2020.

WHAT DOES MY EARLY BIRD ENTRY GET ME?

A great discount Early bird entries are R9 300 per team of 12 riders. That’s a R600 discount on the normal R9 900 per team entry fee.

  • A guaranteed entry It also gets you entry into a unique cycling race that we’re anticipating will be fully booked in 2020. And that’s not just marketing speak either. Over the last two years we’ve seen a very encouraging increase in team entries and our last event was just six teams short of being fully booked. We genuinely anticipate the 2020 event going past that.

TELL ME MORE ABOUT THIS MALUTI DOUBLE90…

Now in its fifth year, the Cycle Lab Maluti Double 90 powered by Biogen is a 180 km team time trial that gives amateur cyclists the unique experience of racing as a team. The format brings tactics into play that you won’t find in in any solo-rider event, with teams strategizing around sharing the workload and controlling the pace to get at least six of their riders across the line in the fastest possible time.

Put on by the Pedal Power Association, the event is open to Female, Male and Mixed team, with 12 riders per team. Each team starts 30 seconds apart and has up to nine hours to complete the event.

“We are excited to be a part of the Maluti Double 90 for a second year in a row and we look forward to what the event has to offer to road cyclists in 2020,” says Andrew McLean, founder and director of Cycle Lab. “Events like this require team work, long-term commitment to prepare for and a good dose of toughness and teamwork to complete successfully. These are all traits that South African cyclists enjoy and we feel that with our involvement, we can help grow the event and add value to participants.”

AND THE ROUTE?

The start and finish is from the President Square in the picturesque Free State town of Clarens. In a loop out towards Bethlehem, the route includes a tough, hilly section through the iconic Golden Gate National Park. Given both the distance and the undulating terrain, this is not your usual weekend coffee ride, but if you have enough miles in your legs, you are going to absolutely love it.
