It's all systems go as the Cape Winelands gear up for the Robertson Wacky Wine Weekend, with events including wine tasting at more than 30 wine farms and establishments, various arts and crafts, cheese/olive/food tasting, boat cruises - and, amongst others, a mountain bike event to work it all off.

If you'd like to link to another PPA member, you can now invite him/her to become a friend, after which you can eg send emails or chat to the person via the website.

Entries are open for the WP road and time trial championships on 11 and 12 June 2011. The event is open to all CSA-affiliated cyclists, including paid-up PPA members. Entries close on 5 June, whereafter no further entries will be taken.

Pedal Power Association staff members got their hands dirty on Friday 20 May 2011 to plant indigenous trees alongside the new MTB/walking path, sponsored by the PPA, that is being built around the perimeter of Lower Tokai. To date, some 4,5 km of the path has been completed.

The Executive Mayor of Cape Town, Alderman Dan Plato, recently visited the upgraded Non-Motorised Transport (NMT) infrastructure in Khayelitsha to encourage road safety among pedestrians and cyclists. Whilst inspecting the infrastructure, the Mayor handed out reflective wrist bands to pedestrians and cyclists using the route.

NEW PPA WEBSITE - MyPPA COMPETITION The MyPPA section of the website has seen an astonishing 1100 members register since going live. This section allows you to maintain your membership details, view your seeding and get personalized results when you log on.

This year's Amashova will have a separate start for u/16 riders due to the restriction of u/16  riders not being allowed to race over distances longer than 80 km. The u/16s will therefore join the Amashova en route. For more information, please contact Michelle on...
