Amongst others, we are looking for names of cycle-friendly coffee shops - read more on our website and send us your nomination now!

Do you need funds for a worthwhile cycling project? The Pedal Power Association (PPA) is putting money back into cycling, making profits obtained via the Cape Argus Pick ‘n Pay Cycle Tour available for the funding of cycling projects for 2012.

PPA is about to launch a major SAFE CYCLING campaign, focusing the attention on safe passing distance. We believe vehicles should pass cyclists with at least a 1.5m berth, and you can help us to spread the word.

Cyclists who missed the entry cut-off for the 2012 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour have one last chance to secure an entry with substitution entries which opened on Wednesday 1 February 2012.

Early birds receive a discounted entry fee for entering before 31 January 2012 (123km and 50km road races and 35km MTB only). Late entries for 50km and 35km MTB will be accepted only if the participation cut-off has not been reached.

CYCLING SAFETY AT EVENTS You are responsible for your safety on the road even when racing, so be sure to keep your eyes on the road and think of your fellow cyclists' safety, no matter how competitive it gets. - Stay left of the white line at all times and listen to the Think Bike marshals. - When cycling in bunches, be sure to leave some space on either side of the bunch to allow for left and right movement on the road without crossing any center lines. - When cycling in neutral zones, stay left at all times and in single file, allow cars to pass you quickly. Normal road rules applies so be sure to signal your intentions and stop at traffic lights, stop streets etc. Take the neutral areas carefully, the race is finished and no doubt your legs are tired, take it slow and safe! “NO TRANSPONDER, NO TIME” Please remember to bring and wear your transponder at all PPA events.

Join PPA on Tuesdays for cycling training sessions on the Killarney Motor Racing track (18h00-19h00).  Registration from 17h30 in the pits area. Depending on the number of cyclists on the day, there will be two to three start groups, with an experienced cyclist leading the training session. In general the sessions start off slowly, with the speed and/or intervals increasing towards the end.
