Due to the problems experienced in the past with numbers getting lost in the post, we will not be posting road funride numbers this year. Your new number  will be available soon for collection from either the PPA office, the PPA AGM or the first...

The Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust has launched their innovative Training Wheels programme aimed at preparing novices to the sport of cycling to enter, train for, and participate in their first Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in 2014.  The fun, goal-oriented programme is aimed entirely at helping novices and first-time Cycle Tour entrants under the expert eye of career athlete and multi-qualified sport coach, Peter Huber. Applications are limited to 100 spots and are focused at Cape Town-based riders.

Too many cyclists have died on our roads, and we need YOU to help make a difference and raise awareness for safe passing distances and safer roads for all.  The Pedal Power Association and Toyota are proud to invite you to the launch of the PPA Ride for Your Life SA Tour in Johannesburg on Sunday 8 September 2013.

PPA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING 2013 Notice is hereby given that the Annual General Meeting of the Pedal Power Association will be held on Monday 02 September 2013, at 18:00 for 18h30 at the Canal Walk Auditorium, Canal Walk Shopping Centre.

Entries for the 2013 Coronation Double Century opened on Thursday, 25 July, with all the available team spots already taken.  The 202km event, which starts and finishes in the historic town of Swellendam, is a challenging team cycling event renowned for its camaraderie. Celebrating its 21st birthday this year, the Coronation DC takes place on Saturday, 23 November 2013.

There are only two entries left for Stage 1 of the PPA Toyota Ride for Your Life SA Tour. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to get fit, see South Africa and at the same time raise awareness for cyclists’ safety.

The present discussions around whether or not all participants in the Pick n Pay Cape Argus Cycletour should register with CSA has prompted me think back to the very first event when we wrestled with this very same issue. My memory may well be a bit rusty, but fortunately I still have copies of the monthly newsletters from those days to draw on. (There’s much more to be said and I must get on with the book I’ve been meaning to write . . .) - By John Stegmann

The first weekend of June was a bleak one for cycling, with four cyclists being knocked down in Cape Town alone, in two separate incidents. PPA says: Enough is enough! In order to raise awareness around the safety of cyclists, PPA is organising the RIDE FOR YOUR LIFE SOUTH AFRICA TOUR from 8 to 28 September – and you are invited to participate.
