01 Nov 2016 JC Nel wins 2016 Mangaung Cycle Tour
Congratulations to JC Nel who won the 2016 Mangaung Cycle Tour in a time of 2:32:25, finishing 9 seconds ahead of Egon Campbell on the 106 km route. The times were fast with the lead riders averaging 40km/h in the hot, quiet conditions. Hazel Magill was the first female rider across the finish line, outsprinting Tanya Barnes at the finish at the SA School of Armour to finish one second ahead in 3:13:59.
The race, which was organised by the Pedal Power Association, saw 745 cyclists participate in the 106 km distance, an official Premier Seeding Event for the 2017 Cape Town Cycle Tour. More than 172 cyclists participated in the 35 km race.
