19 Jul 2017 Exciting changes in store for 2017 Enjoy One Tonner
Exciting changes are afoot for the 2017 Enjoy One Tonner, with a new time trial for a limited number of teams on the 170 km route, excellent prize money for the top teams, and a brand new 40 km route.
The Enjoy One Tonner, which takes place on Sunday 22 October 2017, is unique in that it is one of only two events on the PPA calendar that offers a route longer than 120 km. The new team time trial format on the 170 km route offers up to 50 teams the opportunity to use this event as a practice run for the Coronation Double Century which takes place roughly a month later. Individual riders can still participate in the 170 km funride, as well as the 109 km funride. The 170 km and 109 km routes will again be used as seeding events for the Cape Town Cycle Tour. The new 40 km route excludes the tough climb over Helshoogte and is ideal for youngsters and novices.

EVENT NOTES
Both the 170 km and the 109 km routes in the 2017 Enjoy One Tonner will be an Official Premier Seeding Series event for the 2018 Cape Town Cycle Tour.
The event starts and finishes in Stellenbosch, with the two longer routes taking in the tough 5 km climb over Helshoogte, posing a challenge to cold muscles barely 1 km after the start. The 40 km route excludes this killer climb.
Various cut-offs will be enforced along the way to ensure cyclists will reach the finish before 16h00.
At the venue, various food stalls will offer tasty treats as well as craft beer and coffee for sale, while massage therapists will take care of tired muscles. Come and relax under the marquee tent, where music and an MC will keep things pumping.
Entries close at 14h00 on 30 September. No “on-the-day” late entries will be available, although limited late entries for individuals could be taken at pre-registration during the week, if there is space available.
No late entries whatsoever will be taken for teams.
Finishers’ medals are not included in the event entry fee, but can be ordered at an additional cost of R20.00 per medal when you enter the event.
