Enter now for PPA’s new early-evening MTB ride!

Enter now for PPA’s new early-evening MTB ride!

The new PPA Tread Lightly Twilight MTB ride on Friday 13 December 2013 is something different – and should definitely not be missed. Amongst others, the first 250 participants who enter by Friday 29 November will each receive a lovely gift; lucky draw prizes will go to the best fancy dress costumes at the event; the routes are devised to be non-technical but FUN, and Santa will definitely be at the event…

The event is aimed at having fun, not at how fast you can get around the course.

As such, the three routes (20 km, 10 km and 4 km) are non-technical, yet scenic. The 4 km will be on a flattish section of the farm near the parking area and will even take riders through the wine cellars. This route is aimed specifically at beginners and kids (please remember that all kids u/10 must be accompanied by an adult at all times). The medium route includes enough climbs to work up a good appetite for the various food stalls at the finish, while the long route will certainly have you shed a drop of sweat or two. All the riding is on farm roads, no single track.

All riders must be off the course by 20h00 and participants will be re-routed should they not be able to complete the course before dark.

Santa will be at the event to offer tractor rides to the kids, while great food stalls will offer tasty eats on sale.

FANCY DRESS COMPETITION

A number of prizes will be on offer to the best fancy dress costumes spotted on the ride 🙂

It’s really a relaxed get-together; there will be no timing or seeding, and participants are encouraged to ride together with friends and family members. In order to keep costs as low as possible, no medals will be offered. Instead, the first 250 entrants (online pre-entries only) will receive a lovely gift of a herb to take home, plant and enjoy. Entries close on 9 December – late entries will be offered only if the cut-off has not been reached.

BRING A BOOK FOR CHARITY

As this is the last ride before Christmas, participants are encouraged to bring a book or two (preferably Afrikaans, but English is also welcome; new or used; for all ages) to donate to the Paarl Rotary Children’s Book Drive that strives to improve literacy in the local community. The majority of books will be donated to the Klapmuts Junior School’s library. If you are unable to donate a book, then some old magazines; a soft toy (new or second-hand); or tins of food will also be most welcome.

Online entries close at 12h00 noon on Monday 9 December – do not miss out on this fun event and enter now.

We are really looking forward to seeing you at our final event for the year.
