19 Sep 2016 Disciplinary
The disciplinary sub-committee is tasked with the enforcement of the PPA Constitution and Funride Rules in the interests of safer and more enjoyable cycling for all. Where possible, the committee has also sought to be pro-active.
For the eighth year running, motorbike marshals continued to assist at road events, particularly in keeping cyclists left of the centre line. The bike marshals also keep an eye open for cyclists drafting behind vehicles, and assist when needed to marshal busy intersections.
PPA’s cycling marshals play an invaluable role during funrides, not only at the start of events when they assist to check for cyclists attempting to start in a higher seeded category than what they are entitled to, but also out on the road when they assist with reporting littering, cyclists riding with ipods or crossing the white line.
We are pleased to report that while some warnings were issued in the past year, no cyclists were disqualified for breaking the funride rules during an event.
