News

Welcome to the brand-new PPA website. We are very excited about this site, as it offers many new features, while information should be easier to find (plus there's loads more of it!). Continue to read here for a brief site overview, how things work, where you can find info and where you can report errors to.

The title is mine! No it’s mine! No it’s mine! This is what happened over the past four years whenever Kevin Evans (360Life) and Burry Stander (Specialized) battle it out for the honour of being called South Africa’s top marathon rider.

Entries are now open for the Cape Times Vigne-a-Vigne MTB (55km, 27km) and Trail Run, which take place on the last day of the 2011 Absa Cape Epic. Also don't miss the prologue of this year's event in Tokai on Sunday 27 March (note the Plantation will be closed to the public for cycling until 14h00).

In a spectacular finish, Kevin Evans (Team 360life) emerged as the overall winner of the inaugural Columbia Grape Escape. David George (Team 360life) claimed the second position with  Karl Platt (Bulls) finishing third.

The new Schapenberg MTB trails near Somerset West are fast approaching completion. Once finished, the trails offer several hours of great off-road riding to cyclists of all skills levels.PPA members will be able to ride the trail at half-price, due to PPA funding the project.

Some development riders who have been granted entries to the 2011 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour own very old bicycles. Most of these riders cannot afford to upgrade, or even repair their bicycles.

"The suspension of the second stage of The Cell C Tour of SA has been a disappointment to the organisers, sponsors, participating teams and of course the public", stated Cycling South Africa's statement after the second stage was suspended on Sunday.

The Pedal Power Association and other role players will be meeting with the MEC for Community Safety, Albert Fritz, on 17 February 2011 to discuss safety issues relating to cyclists and hikers on Table Mountain.
