Cape Town, 1 July 2011:- The Pedal Power Association (PPA) is delighted to announce allocating some R1 850 000 to support 38 cycling-related projects over the next year, bringing the funding spent on cycling projects over the last four years to a total of just under R7 million. In this way, the Association has recently supported some 120 specific cycling-related projects.

Your PPA membership for 2011-2012 is due for renewal on 1 July 2011. Amongst others, PPA membership benefits include discounted event entry fees, a seeded funride number, results, and CSA membership.

The Table Mountain Forum (TMF) will on Sunday 19 June host the first of a series of Safe Mountain Days aimed at increasing awareness around the safety plan for the mountain and encouraging the public to play their part in efforts to ensure that all enjoy what the world famous landmark has to offer, without the fear of falling victim to crime.

The WP Cycling Association has announced that the WP Road and Time Trial Championships are postponed to 1 and 2 October 2011 due to insufficient entries having been received for the June event date. All cyclists who have entered, will have their entries carried over to the new date.

It's all systems go as the Cape Winelands gear up for the Robertson Wacky Wine Weekend, with events including wine tasting at more than 30 wine farms and establishments, various arts and crafts, cheese/olive/food tasting, boat cruises - and, amongst others, a mountain bike event to work it all off.

Entries are open for the WP road and time trial championships on 11 and 12 June 2011. The event is open to all CSA-affiliated cyclists, including paid-up PPA members. Entries close on 5 June, whereafter no further entries will be taken.

Pedal Power Association staff members got their hands dirty on Friday 20 May 2011 to plant indigenous trees alongside the new MTB/walking path, sponsored by the PPA, that is being built around the perimeter of Lower Tokai. To date, some 4,5 km of the path has been completed.
