Bring your family and friends and join us at the Backsberg Wine Estate near Paarl for a social, non-technical off-road ride to celebrate the end of the week and the start of the ‘silly season’.
The new 4 km route will be open to everyone, from cyclists to walkers and joggers. This is a great route for novice riders or complete beginners, and offers a total elevation gain/loss of less than 100m. Kids older than 5 are most welcome to ride this route, provided they are accompanied by an adult at all times.
The new 15 km route offers a family-friendly ride and will again incorporate the hugely popular water point on the neighbouring Niel Joubert Estate where bubbly, water and sweets are on offer. Kids older than 10 are welcome to ride the 15 km route, provided they are accompanied by an adult at all times.
There will be no seeding or timing, and instead of lucky draw prizes, the best fancy-dress outfits will win prizes. The theme will be announced by mid-November. In order to keep entry fees and event costs low, participants will not receive medals, but all entrants will receive an event-specific bike board at registration and something special at the finish.
Online entries close at 22h00 on Wednesday 30 November. Please note the new starting time of 18h30, which is 30 minutes later than it was in previous years in order to give participants more time to reach the venue.
Backsberg Restaurant will offer tasty food for sale, and we invite you to relax with us after the event and have a bite to eat. Wine as well as craft beer will for sale (please Drink & Drive responsibly and organise a designated driver).
There will be a jumping castle for the kids, as well as music at the finish.
BlueBoost will once again be selling their delicious blueberries at the event. You won’t find blueberries at this price anywhere else, so make sure to stock up on this perfect summer superfood while you have the chance. BlueBoost will also have water on hand to quench your thirst.
CHRISTMAS BOOK DRIVE
We are supporting Rotary Paarl’s “Christmas Book Drive” with this event and kindly ask you to support the initiative by bringing your old books (or magazines) to the event. Look out for the donation boxes at registration.
FUN FANCY DRESS COMPETITION
The best fancy-dress outfits (yes you have to ride with your outfit!) will win prizes. The theme is: “Something red, Something gold”. We look forward to see what you can come up with!
