09 Apr Langebaan Lagoon Festival MTB funride

This new MTB funride forms part of the festival activities of the Langebaan Lagoon Festival over the weekend from 19 to 21 April 2012. This is a fun event for the family with two MTB routes:36km for the more serious rider and 13km for Moms/Dads and children who just want to enjoy cycling. Lovely beach scenery, including a 2km beach ride.

03 Apr PPA mourns death of commuter in Muizenberg

“We were shocked and saddened to hear this morning that a commuter was killed yesterday after being involved in a collision with a minibus taxi on the corners of Prince George Drive and Vrygrond Avenue near Muizenberg,” said Pedal Power Association (PPA) chairman Steve Hayward. “We understand that a case of culpable homicide has been opened. We further understand that the passenger on the same bicycle was taken to Victoria Hospital for medical treatment and is currently in a stable condition.” As a protest against the incident, the PPA coordinated a silent protest on the morning of Saturday 6 April at the scene of the incident, and erected a ghost bicycle on the scene (see pics on our Facebook page). 22 Feb Cycling awareness ride: Enough is enough!

We yesterday received the tragic news that yet another cyclist was killed in Johannesburg after being hit by a car. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We need to get the message out there that CYCLISTS STAY ALIVE AT 1.5m. We therefore urge you to support the safety awareness ride on Saturday morning and to arrive en masse – bring your friends and family members, and let’s get the message out there that we will not stand for any more cyclists being hit by vehicles.

20 Feb Scenic South late entries and info

Late entries (and registration) for the last pre-Cycle Tour road funride on the calendar, the PPA Scenic South funride over 50km on Sunday 24 February, will be taken at the PPA Office today (Friday 22 February) between 12h00-15h00.  Late entries will also be taken on Sunday at the venue, from 05h30. 14 Feb Entries closing soon for 2013 MTB Challenge

Entries to the 2013 Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge close this Friday, 15 February and riders are urged to enter soon as no late entries will be accepted.

06 Feb Substitution entries for Cycle Tour

Cyclists who missed the entry cut-off for the 2013 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in September 2012 have one last chance to secure an entry after substitution entries opened Friday, 1 February 2013.
