Entries for 2019 Maluti Double90 filling up fast

Entries are filling up fast for one of South Africa’s favourite team road cycle races, the 2019 Maluti Double90. This iconic event will be in its 4th year in 2019.  Teams should secure their entries as soon as possible as entries are bound to sell out fast.

This team time trial event, organised by the Pedal Power Association, takes place in the picturesque town of Clarens in the beautiful eastern Free State on Saturday 13 April 2019.  “The location is ideal as it is within an easy driving distance from Gauteng, Kwazulu-Natal and of course the Free State, making it possible for cyclists across the country to participate.”  Says PPA CEO Robert Vogel.  The 180 km route boasts with breath-taking scenery, especially inside the Golden Gate Reserve.  Some tough climbs require strong team camaraderie and endurance which is all worth it at the finish line.  Teams consist of between 6 and 12 riders and compete in one of three categories: Open (mixed), all-male, or all-female, with the time of the 6th rider across the finish line counting as the team’s official time.

In 2018 we had some tough competition with Team Barzani Pro Cycling taking the first place in the open category.   Sprinting to the finish line at the President Square in Clarens, they took the gold medals with a well-deserved winning time of 04:18:06.  With the event growing in size and popularity amongst cyclists across the country, we are expecting some phenomenal times in 2019.

The Pedal Power Association, a public benefit organisation, is committed to encouraging more people to ride bicycles, with a particular focus on utility cycling and youth cycling.  PPA raises awareness for cyclist safety through its “Stay Wider of the Rider” campaign.  The event gives back to the local community by leaving some brand new bicycle behind that are donated to people who can use these bicycles as a means of transport.

Entries are open until Friday 1 February 2019 at

No late entries will be taken at registration or on the day of the event.
