KILLARNEY CYCLE TRAINING
Join us on 8 Nov for our last Tuesday training session of the year at Killarney. The track is unfortunately not available for the rest of November, and training sessions will resume in January 2012.
SEEDED EVENT NUMBERS
Please remember to bring and wear the blue road funride number to road events, and the brown funride number that says “MTB” on it, to MTB events. The numbers not only have different colours, but also a different numbering system. Because of the big difference in calculating road and MTB seeding, you will NOT be able to use your road number at a MTB event, or vice versa. Contact the PPA Office 2-3 days before an event if you had not received a funride number to use at that event, or go to the PPA Mobile Office when you get to the event.
WOMEN’S-ONLY ROAD FUNRIDE
The new ‘PPA Heels on Wheels, presented by Shape’ on Sun 11 Dec is specially designed to cater for female cyclists who perhaps don’t participate in funrides as often as they’d like, or who are new to cycling and who are not yet ready for long routes and testosterone-filled racers. Goody bags to only the first 350 entrants. Two routes: 47 km; 13 km. See the home page, or click on http://www.pedalpower.org.za/event/ppa-heels-on-wheels-presented-by-shape-magazine/ for more information and enter now!

ROUTE DESCRIPTION: A great new date for this popular event! The event starts on the banks of the Langebaan Lagoon in the picturesque village of Langebaan. As the routes wind exclusively through the West Coast National Park, it takes you through some of the most beautiful scenery on the West Coast.
The routes closely hug the shoreline of South Africa’s only saltwater lagoon as you pass through Strandveld vegetation before making your way across the peninsula that divides the Atlantic Ocean and the Langebaan Lagoon.
Take time to appreciate the azure blue waters of this fantastic coastline as you pedal past landmarks such as Preekstoel, Kraalbaai, Geelbek and Schrywershoek. Be on the lookout for the many animals that roam the West Coast National Park, as this in itself makes it a very special ride. Several of the rolling hills have interesting names such as Skunk Hill, Fanie se Kop and Seeberg and make for a challenging, yet enjoyable day out.
The ride finishes at the top of Stumpnose Rock (affectionately known as Mamba Hill) with a breathtaking view of the lagoon as the backdrop.
