21 Jul 2015 2015 Coronation Double Century entries sell out in 13 minutes
Entries for the 2015 Coronation Double Century are officially sold out, snapped up in a record time of just 13 minutes. Beating last year’s record, this is the quickest sell-out of entries in the team cycling event’s 23 year history.
Prospective entrants loaded the Coronation Double Century website from just after midday on Tuesday, 21 July. The high traffic volume to the website forced the organisers to redirect it directly to the online entry portal to allow for the flow of entries.
David Bellairs, a director of event organisers, the Cape Town Cycle Tour Trust (CTCTT) on behalf of the Pedal Power Association, says: “It is regrettable that the event fills up so quickly and we understand that there are many disappointed teams. We urge anyone still wanting an entry to get their names on our electronic waiting list which we hope to finalise by the end of next week. While we would love to increase the number of entries available, we are of the firm belief that by retaining our numbers, we are able to offer a quality experience to participants.”
The annual 202 km race will start and end in Swellendam on Saturday, 21 November 2015. Riders still looking for an entry can follow this link to add their name to the electronic waiting list: https://online.entries.co.za/entries/findperson.aspx?eid=3505.
Participants who have already entered and who want to find team members, or teams that require additional riders, can make use of the online notice board at www.coronationdc.co.za/entry-info.
