The Outriders Cycle Club are hosting “the voice of cycling,” Phil Liggett, as their guest speaker. Phil Liggett is the most popular English speaking cycling commentator in the world. WHEN: Wednesday 6 March 2013 WHERE: Groote Schuur High School, Palmyra Road Newlands TIME: 6.00pm to 8.00pm WHAT: Snacks from 6.00pm to 6.30pm.

The Western Cape Government launched the Safely Home Road Safety Rewards campaign which aims to reward drivers for good behaviour on our roads The initiative is part of a behavioural economics project aimed at establishing a culture of respecting road rules and promoting an identity of responsible road users.

We yesterday received the tragic news that yet another cyclist was killed in Johannesburg after being hit by a car. ENOUGH IS ENOUGH! We need to get the message out there that CYCLISTS STAY ALIVE AT 1.5m. We therefore urge you to support the safety awareness ride on Saturday morning and to arrive en masse – bring your friends and family members, and let’s get the message out there that we will not stand for any more cyclists being hit by vehicles.

Late entries (and registration) for the last pre-Cycle Tour road funride on the calendar, the PPA Scenic South funride over 50km on Sunday 24 February, will be taken at the PPA Office today (Friday 22 February) between 12h00-15h00.  Late entries will also be taken on Sunday at the venue, from 05h30. Event details are as follows:

Cyclists who missed the entry cut-off for the 2013 Cape Argus Pick n Pay Cycle Tour in September 2012 have one last chance to secure an entry after substitution entries opened Friday, 1 February 2013.

Entries for the 12th annual Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge are open and riders are encouraged to enter early to secure their place in this ever-popular and growing event.  The Cape Argus Pick n Pay MTB Challenge takes place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 March, 2013.  Boschendal Wine Estate in Stellenbosch will play host to the two-day event which sees thousands of riders from across the country participating in a weekend of family fun and challenging dirt track races.
