BIKE TO WORK: WED 19 OCT
Worried about the new higher fuel price? Want to try something ‘green’? Want to get an extra bit of exercise in for the day? Mobilize your family and friends and cycle to work on Wednesday 19 October. Using a bicycle to get to work is much easier than you think, and it may just inspire you to become a regular commuter! See the PPA website home page for more information.

MTB BEGINNERS WORKSHOP
Need some MTB skills training? Then join our beginners MTB skills workshop this Saturday 15 October, presented by ex-Olympic MTB rider Erica Green, on the farm Thandi in the Grabouw/Elgin area.

Due to one or two cancellations, a few places have become available.  Please contact Samantha at the PPA Office on (021) 689-8420 or email marketing@pedalpower.org.za to book your place and for more information.

KILLARNEY TRAINING
They’ve finished resurfacing the track, so join us this afternoon for the regular PPA Tuesday cycle training sessions on the Killarney Motor Racing track near Milnerton. Registration starts at 17h30 in the pits area, with the session commencing at 18h00. Entry fees are R15.00 per PPA member, R30.00 per non-member and R5.00 for children u/12, riding with a parent. Read more in the news section on the PPA website.

NEW WOMEN’S-ONLY ROAD FUNRIDE!
Join us on 11 December 2011 for the PPA “Heels on Wheels”, presented by SHAPE magazine. The event is specially designed to cater for newcomers to cycling and female cyclists who perhaps don’t participate in funrides as often as they’d like. Choose from a 47km and 13km route. Stunning goody bags to the first 350 entrants include vouchers, discounts, a shopping bag, and more. Lucky draw prizes include a bicycle, accommodation, cycling kit, shopping vouchers and more. See the home page, or click on http://www.pedalpower.org.za/event/ppa-heels-on-wheels-presented-by-shape-magazine/ for more information and to enter now.

WHAT TO DO IF YOU DON’T COMPLETE A ROUTE
If you cannot complete the route you had entered for, please do NOT cross the timing mats when you get to the finish line, as the results programme will throw up a “red flag” and you could face disciplinary action. If you inadvertently do cross the mats and realise you should not have, please tell the timing crew at the mats immediately.

REGISTRATION

All participants must attend registration to collect an event entry sticker and information pack. Registration will take place as follows:

Tuesday 11 October

PPA Office from 08h30-16h30

Wednesday 12 October
PPA Office from 08h30-16h30
Cycle Lab North Gate from 15h00-18h00

Thursday 13 October
PPA Office from 08h30-16h30
Chris Willemse Cycles Willowbridge from 15h00-18h00

Sunday 16 October
Registration at the venue from 05h30-06h30

We strongly recommend that you register during the week, so as to save time and cut down on that last-minute panic on the morning of the event. If you pre-ordered a T-shirt and want to collect that from the registration points at either Cycle Lab or CWC, please let us know before 13h00 on the day so that we can send your T-shirt to that collection point, otherwise all pre-ordered T-shirts will be available for collection only from the PPA Office.

You are welcome to ask a friend to collect your registration pack on your behalf, provided s/he brings along a printed email or letter from you authorising him/her to do so.

Don’t forget your event entry sticker at home, but place it securely in the dedicated area in the bottom left-hand corner of the PPA funride number. We recommend that you even place the pin used to fix your funride number to your cycling jersey, through the event sticker to make sure it does not fall off on the way to the start of the event.

No late entries will be accepted at registration.

NOTES

Cyclists who wish to ride together (e.g. to train for the DC) can do so, provided they all start in the seeded group of the lowest-seeded rider.  PPA 2011-2012 road numbers will be used; remember to bring yours.

Distinctive medals for all finishers. The swimming pool will be open for your family to enjoy while they wait for you, or for you to cool off in afterwards. Great food stalls at the venue with food, cool drinks and coffee for sale. See www.pedalpower.org.za for more information.
